Save St Wilfrid's, Harrogate

• St Wilfrid's, Harrogate is a beautiful Victorian Gothic church, Harrogate's only Grade One listed building. More information  and more pictures of the church can be found here.
• A planning application has been submitted to Harrogate Borough Council by CE Electric UK to build a primary electricity station in the rear grounds of the church, on church land. This has been approved by St Wilfrid's Parochial Church Council, though no soundings were taken amongst the wider congregation.

• Complete desecration of the church.
• Installation of an industrial compound in the middle of a residential area, a magnet for vandals and graffiti artists.
• The building will be massive, inappropriate, permanent, noisy, dangerous, a fire risk and a health risk.
• An open space amenity much used by children such as cubs and brownies will be lost for ever.
• Almost no car parking will be possible in the church grounds. This will be unfair both on local residents and also on those churchgoers, particularly the elderly, who have difficulty in walking.

There have been many objections to this proposal, not just from all over Harrogate but from further afield.
